Walking with Generation Hope

Coexist is all about bringing people together and providing access to education. What better way to support our mission than by working with other organizations trying to do the same?

Coexist supports generation Hope's March Event

While most of our work so far has involved international projects, we are excited to be able to support local organizations that are creating stronger communities as well.

We’re coming together with Generation Hope at their 2014 Hope Stroll Sunday, March 30, 2014, from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex. We’ll be keeping walkers caffeinated during the event by serving our delicious Coexist Coffee.

Generation Hope is a nonprofit organization reducing poverty one family at a time by providing direct sponsorships and one-on-one mentoring to teen parents. Their slogan - investing in a generation of successful families - is very much in line with what we’re doing in Uganda and India.

Nationwide, less than 2% of teen mothers earn a college degree before the age of 30. Generation Hope is working to dramatically increase that number in the D.C. area. Since 2010, they’ve supported 26 scholars, provided 275 high school parents or parents-to-be with college-readiness workshops, celebrated two college graduations, and provided nearly $55,000 in tuition assistance.

The Hope Stroll is more than just an indoor walk – it’s a fun family day filled with activities, music, vendors, and entertainment. As walkers cross the finish line, they help fund Generation Hope’s work to help teen moms and dads in the area reach their personal finish lines: college degrees.

We think it’s a worthy cause, one that fits in with our commitment to education. We hope you’ll join us for a fun and fulfilling Sunday morning stroll.

Tickets cost $25 for walkers and $10 for attendees 18 and older (children are free).

RSVP to our event on Facebook.
